25 Ugly Christmas Sweaters That Aren’t Festively Ugly

Anybody else trying not to jump on the Ugly Christmas sweater bandwagon this year?

Not to sound like the Grinch, but I refuse to wear another ugly sweater. Don’t get me wrong some ugly Christmas sweaters are actually really adorable, but the majority of them are definitely competing for the number one spot of worlds ugliest sweater. I mean, I guess that’s kind of the point though.

I’m trying to be more responsible with my shopping so I’m more supportive of purchasing wardrobe pieces that are reusable rather than buying something that can only get worn once a year. Ugly Christmas sweaters fall into the latter of the two categories. They appear to be so memorable that you either have to wear that same sweater every year thus making it your trademark for the holiday season or scout around to find an even uglier sweater for the next year. Nope! Not me. Not this year. You might catch me DIY-ing a cute & festive holiday sweater of my own next year to further protest the ugly Christmas sweaters though. This year I’m supporting all subtle holiday attire. It’s easier to style a cute Christmas themed shirt or sweater into my wardrobe then it is to style the infamous ugly Christmas sweater.

So if you want to look festive, but you don’t want to feel like a living, breathing Christmas tree or a 3D printed stack of candy canes, then today’s post is especially for you!

“Santa Baby, a cute Christmas tee under the tree for me. “

Actually, that may not be something we want to put under the tree because it’s going to get worn before Christmas, but you get it.

I may have been living under a rock for a while, but I didn’t even know that wearing ugly Christmas sweaters was a thing until I got hired by an employer with a work culture. So when I was introduced to the idea if wearing an ugly Christmas sweater, I thought it was a joke. I’m all about looking festive for the occasion and playing the part, but I wanted to look cute… not ugly. Channeling the holiday spirit, I tried the ugly Christmas sweater thing, but I never felt more out of place. The sweater that I ended up wearing was covered in bells and had the body of an elf printed on it without the head. To overindulge in the festivities I finished off the look with an elf hat. So everybody around knew that one of Santa’s little elves was on her way. Allow me to repeat, never again. Unfortunately fact, the sweater is still hanging in my closet. I haven’t figured out whether I want to turn DIY it into a pillow or give it away.
