Outfit Inspiration: An Edgy Fourth of July Outfit
Happy Fourth everyone! Can you believe we’re halfway through the year already? My plans are pretty chill this year, but my outfit inspiration isn’t. I’m channeling this whole edgy, 90’s vibe for my fourth of july outfit. (honestly idk when I’m not channeling a 90’s vibe though) Truth be told, my outfit inspiration for this set is none other than the late, great Aaliyah. (RIP babygirl)
The Fourth of July Outfit
She set it off with her Tommy Hilfiger set in the 90’s and I wanted to give that look a more modern day feel with respect to my body type. Unfortunately, I don’t have any Tommy Hilfiger bandeaus or underwear lying around, but I think I was able to do what it does with what I have.
Gotta give it up to the thrift store and the major sales for this outfit too! Guess crafted artsy belts like this one when I attended high school, but I borrowed this one from my sister. I just hope she knows she’s never getting this back. The plaid shirt came from one of my favorite consignment shops, Plato’s Closet. The real tea is that it was only eighty cents!
You can’t tell me nothing about a major deal unless you can beat that. As for the pants, Need Supply Co had a crazy Sample Sale earlier in the year and they called my name at under $20. My necklace came from Nirvana Wild (shoutout to this black owned business!). Lastly, the little, red bandeau top was thrifted from Goodwill. Just something slight for an extremely hot holiday.
Celebrating the Fourth
My favorite thing about the fourth is how everyone finally leaves the comfort of their homes to be outside and enjoy each others company. This year I plan to be outside near some body of water enjoying the peace and calm that surrounds our country everyday. That’s all taking place before I crush a plate or two of hamburgers and hotdogs. It’ll be followed by me falling out on the couch from the itis at some point.
Final Thoughts
All jokes aside, anything involving a large amount of patriotism can be considered a very sensitive topic. The nation has been through a lot. Although, I understand the enthusiasm & significance behind our flags colors because “united we stand and divided we fall”. There is a heightened sense of discomfort within the history of America continues to be overshadowed by the masses as we try to reconstruct the nation.
Just like any relationship, until the things that makes us uncomfortable are confronted in a constructive manner, things will digress. Coincidentally, just like any relationship, one must be respectful. With that, I hope you pay your respects and celebrate the birthday of the country in which you live everyday. Happy Fourth of July!
