Create Your Holiday Looks With These 11 Pieces You Already Own
We aren’t wasting, time, money or energy this year! Not even when it comes to creating your holiday look for those festive functions!
The holidays are incredibly busy. That being said, most of us don’t have time to spend countless hours shopping for an outfit for a holiday gathering.
Getting ready at the last minute is basically my specialty at this point in life. I don’t necessarily get to where I’m going on time by doing so, but I definitely do it often enough to be considered a specialist. My ability to repeat items is also improving, which is why today I’m sharing a few tips on how to create holiday looks with the items you probably already have hanging in your closet.
Blazer
Even though blazers, immediately remind me of interviews and business functions. It’s a power piece for social gatherings too. Whenever I feel like my outfit is too casual, I add a blazer for instant elevation. Then bam! Sophistication and elegance achieved.
Bodysuit
Body them! Figuratively and literally if you’re feeling froggy. Some bodysuits were made to be captivating and others were made to be convient. Pick your poison. Either way you’re going to need extra time if you need to make a trip to the bathroom while wearing one. And you wonder why I don’t have jumpsuits listed.
Midi Skirt
Something you can almost never go wrong with is a midi skirt. Never have I ever seen this piece worn horribly. It’s the blazer of the skirts. Feeling indecisive? Stay in the midi. Just so we’re clear, yes I am aware of how extremely corny that driving joke was.
Crop Top
I’m biased when it comes to crop tops. I own a million of them and I always need more. Crop tops can be manipulated for every season and occasion. Winter holiday parties are no exception! My favorite way to wear them in the winter with with a black camisole underneath to stay warm.
Little Black Dress
This little black dress (LBD) is a powerful piece. If chosen wisely, it will make you look like somebody’s daughter. Which in some cases works just fine if your looking for somebody’s son.
Dress Pant
These aren’t necessarily going to be the dress pants you wear to work. It’s going to look more like the cocktail dress of pants. I like to call them fancy pants. Kind of like the one Spongebob episode where they call him Spongebob Fancypants. Except you’re going to feel a lot like Squilliam once you put them on.
Mesh/Sheer Top
At first I looked at these and questioned why they were in stores during the coldest time of the year. Then it hit me – Mesh and sheer tops are basically like tights for the top half of your body in the winter. It’s a great layering piece for those LBD’s and bodysuits!
Mini Skirt
Remember those tights I just mentioned? Well you’re going to need those with this piece. Don’t be afraid to wear a mini skirt in the winter though! over the knee boots, booties, and heels are going to amplify this look. Just make sure you don’t have to stand outside for hours on end in less than 40 degree weather. If you do and get frostbit, I didn’t suggest this one.
Leather Pant
Last but not least, leather pants. This is a piece everyone was skeptical about adding back into their wardrobes for 2019. If you were brave enough to incorporate it into your wardrobe then you are definitely brave enough to wear it for a holiday function. If it seems like it isn’t fitting the bill, then throw on a blazer!

I personally love bodysuits! I think they can make your outfit look so much more polished. I have several but will definitely be picking up a few more lol.
They are a the modern day wardrobe necessity! I mean, who needs to tuck in shirts anymore when we can wear a bodysuit?
You look fabulous! I definitely known all of the above pieces, they are great to pair into holiday looks!
Thank you! They really are!
I love the idea of incorporating blazers. Blazers along with accessories, like pins or scarves, can definitely elevate an outfit.
Most definitely a timeless classic. It becomes easier to throw them on over just about anything and work them into your wardrobe after the holidays too!
