Last week, I took a vote from all of my Instagram followers to see what blog topics I should post this week. I was a little skeptical to let anyone else decide for me, but it was very helpful to receive input from someone other than myself. The response I received was almost overwhelming, and somehow I ended up with a tie! It looks like everyone is ready for fall layering and knits. Just a little disclaimer I am going to be knit picking through specifics because that’s how much I love fall wardrobing.
In today’s post I’m wearing something you probably wouldn’t normally see, but it’s fall nonetheless. I paired a lacy, bell sleeve top from
Fabrik, with my
Boohoo maxi cardigan, and my favorite pair of
BDG jeans from
Urban Outfitters.Believe it or not, my entire look was purchased during the summer. So I’ve linked similar pieces in this post below!

Top + Cardigan + Purse + Booties + Jeans
Two things really stand out to me about my outfit. The first is the belt that I’m wearing. I’ve had it for a while, so it’s practically vintage. It was given to me when I was a freshman in high school. I haven’t been able to find another one like it, so I’ve linked other cool belts towards the end of this post! Another cool thing about my outfit is the bell sleeves. The idea to show my sleeves under my cardigan came from one of my favorite Korean Dramas, “She Was Pretty“. In one of the episodes, Han Mi Rae sported an outfit with her long sleeves peeping from under her jacket. I quickly took up the idea and worked it in with my style because of how creative it looked! After all, what’s the point in having detailed sleeves if you have to hide them?
My favorite thing about fall is layering enough to avoid wearing a coat. Fall provides plenty opportunities to mix basic tops with accent blouses and static staples all in one outfit. It’s easier to manage your layers when you buckle down with three pieces too! Kind of like what I did. I’m also naturally cold, so sometimes I take it up a notch by layering up to four pieces and include two basic tops instead of one. Fall layering is a technique that should be tailored specifically to your style. However, if you’d like to try something similar to the outfit I’m wearing in this post, feel free to shop the carousel below!
I’m very specific when it comes to my knits. The material has to be soft like cashmere, warm like wool, and thin like fleece. I’m not going to lie, I have a lot of requirements, but it’s easier to shop for specific clothing items when I know exactly what I want. Occasionally, I’ll settle for a simple knit that is thin enough to layer a button up top under it. Otherwise, I stick to what I know because irrational shopping decisions end in one of three ways: returning, reselling, or gifting.
