Neon Wardrobe Essentials & How To Pull Them Off
I haven’t typed up a blog post in a while so it’s only right that I do one that’s bright enough to get your attention. With that, I introduce you to my favorite trend of the year – neon.
Venturing into the world of neon wardrobe essentials is rocky at first, but once you get adjusted to the bright hues it’s empowering. I’ve tried all of the hues but my favorite has to be this neon yellowish green color. Google search confusingly shows this color for both neon yellow and neon green results. Regardless, this bright and decadent hue in the neon family serves looks and I highly recommend giving it a try.
Getting Started
Neon hues are so bright that it can be intimidating! If you’re hesitant, take a subtle approach to getting started by incorporating accessories like shoes, purses, earrings or even sunglasses. Mixing in one or two pieces to brighten your wardrobe will add a pop of color. It will also add some versatility to your outfit. This way you can gradually work your way up to neon wardrobing.
My introduction pieces to the trend were tops. I started off with mesh tops, bralettes, cotton tees, and crop tops to ease into the whole idea of wearing neon. Starting with a bright foundation makes it easier to layer neutral colors on top and tone down the overwhelming brightness of the color. For example, you could style a fitted, fiery pink, shirt by layering a black, lace camisole over top of it and adding on a pair of jeans. I’ve linked a few basic tops in the carousel below to help you get started!
Step Outside Your Comfort Zone
Once I stepped outside of my comfort zone with these colors, I became comfortable with wearing it. That’s what led me to this neon suit (linked above). I stumbled upon this suit last month during the #buyblackchallenge. I’ve linked the suit under each photo throughout this post! In case they sell out by the time you read this, I’ve also linked a few other suits in the shoppable carousel below!

Quick Tip: Keep in mind that this is a trend. So, try not to go overboard on the neon pieces unless you are committed to having a colorful wardrobe. Neon is a bold trend and can end up being one of those things you toss at the end of the year if you’re not mindful in your selections. To keep this from happening, I tried to link items in this post that will get the most use out of your wardrobe. I hope this helps!
