The Amazon Wig That Restored My Faith In Protective Wig Styling
If you were looking for a sign to try an Amazon wig or a reason to stop sleeping on synthetic wigs, then this is it!
This Amazon wig has basically been a paid actor in my life and all of my photos for a little over six months now. Don’t believe me? Feel free to take a look at my Instagram feed for a visual. I’ve been wearing this wig since Christmas 2020 and if that doesn’t say enough about how amazing this wig is then keep reading.

What Had Happened Was
I wanted to get through Christmas and New Years without having to put much effort into doing my hair. So, wearing a protective wig style sounded like a good way to keep my fingers out of my hair for a while. I didn’t expect to get so wrapped up in this wig that I’d wear it for more than a week, but lo and behold here we are 6 months later.
Get Into The Details
I had every intention of finding an affordable, good quality Amazon wig that both felt and looked like my actual hair. Not to mention that I was aiming for low maintenance to the max.
The wig’s texture appeared to be very similar to my own 4c coils. After washing and flat twisting my hair, I was able to adjust and secure the wig on with ease using the adjustable bands and comb attached to the underside of the wig. To be safe, I even shook my head side to side rigorously afterwards. It felt as if I used Gorilla glue to secure it in place because when it was on “my wig, it don’t move.”
It was surprising to see how much this synthetic wig could withstand too. The wig isn’t heat or water resistant but it could still withstand a hot and humid day or a light spritz from a rainy afternoon. I exercised caution with the weather, but this wig still got a little taste of snow, rain, heat and humidity. Through it all, it still managed to look the same as the day I pulled it out of the box.
Self Care & My Hair
Hair plays a significant role in shaping the way we look, but it’s important not to let our hair shape the way we view ourselves. I’m not gonna lie, the wig felt like it gave me more confidence than my own natural hair. Keep in mind, my goal was to minimize hair maintenance and not boost confidence. When it was time to take the wig off, that same confidence boost was replaced by imposter syndrome. It almost felt unnatural to show off my own natural curls again. Getting used to who I am without the wig, felt as if I was having to teach myself how to love myself again. Like India Arie said, I Am Not My Hair.
This was my first experience wearing a wig for an extended period of time AND purchasing a wig from Amazon. I was skeptical at first because of the rumors I heard about Amazon, but I’m glad I gave it a try.

I’ve been loving that hair since you started wearing it. ?
I’m probably gonna buy that wig too. I just don’t know if I could make it blend as seamlessly as you did.
I’m so happy that you like it! I think it would look good on you. I put the part to the side, but there are a few other ways it can be worn too! To be honest though, I didn’t do too much to make it blend in with my natural hair. I mostly just trimmed the hair in the front of the wig where the cap is, and carefully moved around a few curls to make the part more defined.
