Quarantine & Chill: Things To Do During Self-Quarantine
Three months into 2020 and the world is facing a global pandemic causing entire nations to go under self-quarantine. What in the world is going on?!
There’s a lot of things going on out there and it’s pretty scary. One things for sure though, finding a way to stay home and occupied sounds something that is at the top of everyone’s to-do list.
Before things got crazy, many of us were actively living a lifestyle that is all about the hustle and bustle. So, staying at home can be considered quite a culture shock. Pretty soon, you’ll probably be wondering what to do with all of this time on your hands. So, I’m going to give you some tips and ideas on how I have fun and stay busy while staying home.
Create a morning routine
Whether you decide to keep up your same old morning routine, or start a new morning routine, you should still have something to help you get the day started. I’m sticking to my same old morning routine. I wake up, wake my body up, eat, practice some mindfulness and get on with the day! My morning routine obviously has some parts that I’m leaving out, but you get the gist. By week two, I’m starting to feel like kicking the routine up a notch. So if you’re feeling like me, then throw in twist! Incorporate some yoga, have breakfast in bed, read a book or catch up on your favorite youtube channel.
Incorporate “me time” into every day
Or in other words, treat yourself! You don’t have to go to the mall, or to the spa to take care of yourself. So whether it doing your nails, washing your hair, sleeping in or finally doing the 25 step skincare routine – give yourself the time of day. You deserve it when you work all day, and you deserve it even more when you’re not!
Enjoy a special breakfast every now and then.
Most of our favorite restaurants are closed for the time being, so now is the time to get creative! Treat yourself to a smoothie bowl inspired by you’re favorite vegan cafe. Whip yourself up a homemade plate of those cool Double Berry Banana Pancakes that you tried at Denny’s. You’ll appreciate the time and effort you put into creating this special breakfast when take the first few bites in the comfort of your own home instead of at the restaurant. I know I did.
Limit social media
We’re on social media more than anything right now, because it gives us a sense of feeling connected. However, social media is also an endless rabbit hole filled with all sorts of information being constantly thrown at you all at once. It may be time to do a social media clean out to make sure the content on your timeline is 100% what you want to digest right now. You might even consider minimizing your scroll time, or unplugging to give yourself time to do other things.
Get involved with an online fitness community or download a workout app
Gyms are closed, but we still need to stay in shape! I’m going to be honest, I didn’t go to the gym in the first place. I recently downloaded FitOn. It’s been keeping me on track with my fitness goals for the past 3 weeks and so far I can’t complain! If you’re interested in joining me click here!
Explore new hobbies
I’m taking this time to turn all of those things that I enjoy doing into a hobby. Plants are cool. So, I’m looking into starting a garden. Calligraphy is an amazing stress reliever for me too! So, I started an Etsy shop to sell my art. The last thing I want to do is hold myself back from discovering something great. It’s almost like the 1600’s when Einstein
