Transition These Exciting Summer Fashion Trends Into Your Fall Wardrobe
Anybody else having a hard time letting go of the Summer fashion trends?
This Summer has been filled with some of the most creative and colorful trends. I haven’t had the time to try them all because well, it’s 2020. Do I really have to talk about it? More than anything, I’m excited about pumpkin patches, the smell of wood burning, and cooler nights.
While I’m happy to get into the Fall season, there are still some summer fashion trends I’m not ready to let go of. In case you feel the same way, you can hold onto the Summer a little longer and transition these exciting Summer fashion trends into your Fall wardrobe:

Infinity and Neon
When wearing neon, the motto is brighter the better. This trend makes people skeptical because of how bright and bold it is. This is part of the reason why I made a post outlining few ways to gradually work neon into your wardrobe. Neon forces your to overcome your fashion fears and manipulate style to your creative advantage.
In the Summer, neon mixes with just about anything. It is most radiant when styled as a monochromatic look. For the fall, mix neon with nudes and neutrals to create a contrasting statement. Start plotting on outfit combinations that mix neon orange with browns, and neon yellow with grays.

Back to Bermuda… Shorts
Although it was short lived, Bermuda shorts had a moment this Summer, and my plan is to extend that moment into the Fall of the year. It’s better to place bets on the tailored bermuda shorts over the jean bermudas though. Tailored bermuda shorts are the best way to break the wear to work dress code while looking so sophisticated that you might get away with it.
Don’t think about letting Bermuda shorts hide in the back of the closet in the Fall just because the temperature is dropping though! Try wearing a pair of over the knee boots with a pair of your favorite tailored bermuda shorts in the Fall to keep the sophistication consistent with the weather.

Got Volume?
The volume of this trend has been astronomical. Puff sleeves with extra volume is a trend that has evolved over time and it hardly ever disappoints. It’s rare that a trend has it’s own subcategories. Yes, subcategories. There are organza puff sleeves, button up puff sleeve and sweater puff sleeves. Whether you call it balloon sleeves, puff sleeves or volume sleeves it’s still outstanding. It’s like this trend is about trying to succeed in all areas of fashion.
It is also a trend that transforms every season. Plan on making the most out of puff sleeve tops with stiffer material in the fall for layering purposes. Puff sleeves will look statement-worthy under vests in the Fall.

Go Big or Go Baggy
The baggy look has come a long way and has quite a controversial past. A past so unrecognized that it seems taboo. Although recent claims in the fashion industry link this trend to a similar trend that took place in the 1980’s, wearing baggy and oversized clothes originated in Black communities in the 1970’s. Children were often given hand-me-downs that were too big for them to wear which made the clothes look baggy or oversized. It wasn’t trendy because hand-me-downs were a sign of being poor or not being able to afford the latest fashions. In fact it was looked down upon in the fashion industry. However, it later became a trend in the 1980’s on fashion runways, evolved in the 1990’s with help of the hip hop industry, adopted by street style cultures in the late 2000’s, and now it’s back.
With that brief but detailed history lesson in mind. Baggy clothes keep coming back because they’re extremely comfortable. It is the only time some of us ladies can say our outfit came from the men’s section without feeling red in the face! This fall acheive maximum comfort with this trend by going for baggy cargo pants, sweatpants or jeans and pair it with oversized tops, sweaters or jackets. Basically anything goes!

Tie Dye Anything
Is there anything that can’t be tie dyed at this point? Tie dye has become an infectious trend and it is unmistakably common to wear it as lounge wear. The most difficult thing to do with tie dye is to wear tie dye on tie dye, but that’s for another post. It was also common to find bright tie dye prints and patterns in the Summer. However, that won’t be the case in the Fall. The trend is transitioning into fall but the bright colors might be taking a backseat for a while.
Needless to say, leave your bright Summer tie dye favorites in the Summer. Instead opt for more a subtle color palette. Dark hues and soft pastel color pallets will work best. Be on the lookout for tie dye patterns with oranges, browns, nudes and grays for a more favorable Fall look.
