The Best Boots To Wear Apple Picking

Why wonder when you can wander?

The other weekend my fiancé and I decided to wander out of the city and drive to Carter Mountain Orchard to go apple picking. Our first time visiting was fun, but it was raining and I didn’t have the right shoes. Not the best combination. So when I received my rain boots from Merry People, I felt ready to tackle anything – including another apple picking adventure with my fiancé to redeem myself. One of my fiancé’s favorite parts of our second apple picking trip is that he didn’t have to hear me complain about how much my feet hurt. I can’t blame him. It was one of my favorite parts too!

The Bobbi Rain Boots

When it comes to my shoes, I am dedicated to wearing shoes that are as fashionable as they are comfortable. These rain boots kind of feel like you’re stepping on yoga mats where your toes to sink in just enough to leave an outline of your footprint behind. Needless to say, my feet were protected and I was happily sinking into mud and stepping on rocks without a care in the world while apple picking. Not to mention, I was able to clean the mud off of my boots from my apple picking trip in under 5 minutes. Easy to clean, easy to style and comfortable to wear? Merry People reached out to send me a pair of boots last month. To be quite honest, I was skeptical given my previous experience with rain boots, but after I saw the details about these rain boots on their website I was convinced.

Merry People is an Australian based shoe brand. They make the most versatile and comfortable waterproof rain boots I have even stepped foot in. I have been wearing mine so much since I got them too!

The Good, The Bad, and The Merry

What is it about these boots that does it for me? I thought you’d never ask. (For extra emphasis on how great these boots are please feel free to add the words “for me” at the end of every sentence as your read the rest of this paragraph.) It’s the fact that the boots are 100% waterproof. It’s the quick and easy cleaning process. It’s being able to slide my foot into the rain boots without struggling. It’s the neoprene lining leaving my feet warm and toasty in the freezing cold. It’s feeling like my feet are invincible against the forces of nature! (Then realizing that it’s just a feeling ad not reality. Lol!) There’s more but those are just a few of the best features that I’ve noticed about these boots.

Some rain boots run a little bigger than other boots, but that does not always mean to get a size down from your normal shoe size. My rain boots felt quite roomy at first, but I quickly discovered that they fit my feet best with boot socks or just a thicker pair of socks in general. The weight of the boots also took a little getting used to for me. The neoprene lining is so comfortable that I almost forgot the boots were heavy. That is until I started hiking up a hill that felt like it had a treadmill incline level of 10. But hey, it was a good workout!

It wouldn’t be right to end this post without telling you a little more about my apple picking adventure at Carter Mountain Orchard. Since I didn’t share much about it the first time I visited and this post is already kind of lengthy, I’ll try to keep it detailed but brief. (Pretend like I just did a dramatic inhale before blurting out the next sentence in one breath.) Overall, it was cold and crowded, the view was just as breathtaking as the hike up the mountain, the selection of apples was surprisingly plentiful (even at two weeks before the end of apple picking season), and the best part was leaving with a haul of fresh apples, apple cider donuts, apple butter, and caramel apple cookies. (Exhale. Lol!) It was definitely memorable and I can’t wait to go back!
