The Shoes That Are Disrupting The Sneaker Industry

Can we take a moment to appreciate the amount of comfort and fashion that has been incorporated into the design of this shoe? These Disruptor’s are my favorite kicks right now! I was chilling with my fiance while typing this post and I finally turned to him and asked “How often do I really wear these shoes though?”. He just looked down at his phone and said “Too damn”. I was weak! So basically, “too damn often”. A laughable moment for sure. Let me tell you though! Once I find a pair of shoes I like, it’s pretty hard to get me to stop wearing them.

The Dad Shoe

I’m not going to lie – the whole concept was really weird for me at first. Never did I ever think that the awkward, chunky design of my dads old shoes would become the foundation for a fashion statement. There were times where my mom and I would make fun of my dad for wearing these big, chunky shoes every single time we went out somewhere. He would always tell us “Y’all can laugh but my feet wouldn’t be hurting after walking around shopping all day”. Yes, my dad went with us on our day long shopping trip. Talk about a real one! So in my mind they weren’t cute. A couple of years later though, here I am rocking shoes like my dad every chance I get. Even more ironic, these things are super comfy too! Ain’t that some hypocritical karma. Sorry dad. But hey, that’s fashion! Always coming through to revive a something no one else was even thinking about as a possible trend.

Pure Disruption

Since the popularity of the dad shoe, it seems like the sneaker industry has been perfecting their craft. The trend started last Summer, with a wave of people trying these weird clunky shoes. I’m just now getting around to trying it out. I wasn’t here for it then, but I’m here for it now!

I bought the sneakers in this post a couple of months ago under price and under budget at DSW. Don’t tell, but I stocked up on coupons to get an awesome deal on these shoes. They ended up being a little under $50. Thank goodness for reward programs and coupons. May they forever allow me to shop smarter and not harder.

On Repeat

Let me get down to the real reasons why these shoes are on repeat right now. I cannot begin to explain how difficult it is for me to find a shoe that is as comfortable as it is fashionable. That alone is a win win. There’s no telling how these shoes came out so cozy, but it makes wearing sneakers under any circumstance a thousand times more bearable! Just as long as it doesn’t get them dirty. I’ve been working my butt off trying to keep these shoes looking pristine white as they did when I first opened the box. They also make the perfect accessory for every outfit I put together!

When it comes to explaining how to style these shoes, I’m not going to lie, I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t try to style these shoes a certain way, and I don’t use any fancy methods or compare dainty pieces with edgy ones. I just put an outfit together, throw on these shoes and they just happen to work. Regardless, I don’t know about you, but when it comes to getting dressed that’s the kind of positivity I need in my wardrobe – pieces that just work!

Every time I see someone, especially an influencer rocking something out of the ordinary, I make up some crazy reason as to why they can rock it so effortlessly. Especially with these shoes. Things like “she’s got the perfect body, she’s petite, or she just knows how to pair stuff together.” Then I realized I can work with what I got and tweak it to my own style! Never doubt yourself. Go outside of your comfort zone, it’s beautiful on the other side.
